DESCRIPTION
Coricancha, the Inca Temple of the Sun, was one of the most sacred and respected buildings of the Inca Empire. People from all over the Empire came to the place to worship and pay tribute to their gods, but the interior of the enclosure was reserved for the most important personalities of the time. Due to its importance, the Coricancha was built with stones finely joined together with impressive precision that gives it a sober aesthetic.
Inside, the walls of the various enclosures were covered with sheets of gold and silver. In the time of the Incas, within the facilities of the “gold enclosure” one could find many divinities and samples of flora and fauna such as vicuñas, birds, trees and plants such as corn, made of gold and silver.
Along with the Spanish conquest, the Dominican order built the Temple of Santo Domingo on the foundations of the Coricancha in 1530, thus demonstrating the power of the Spanish over the Incas. Later, the temple was almost completely looted, stripped of the precious metals that decorated it.

DAY 2
- Tour in the City of Cusco: we will visit the Cathedral, Qoricancha, Sacsayhuamán, Tambomachay from 9 am to 1:30 pm.
- Lunch.

- Tour to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. (we will visit Pisac and Ollantaytambo, from 08:00 hrs – 16:00 hrs)
- Train ride from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes

ITINERARY
DAY 1: Cusco: City Tour + 4 Ruins
Arrival in Cusco, reception and transfer to the selected hotel. Free time to rest and acclimatize to the altitude. In the afternoon, tour of the city of Cusco, visiting the Plaza Mayor, the Cathedral and the Temple of the Sun or Korikancha. We will continue outside the city to visit the Inca complexes of Kenko, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and the impressive Sacsayhuamán Fortress, famous for its enormous stones carved and assembled with astonishing precision. Some of these stones exceed 9 m. in height and weigh more than 350 tons. Accommodation at the hotel.
DAY 2: Cusco – Sacred Valley of the Incas
After breakfast, excursion to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, we will visit the town of Pisac with its typical Indian market (only on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays), where you can appreciate the ancestral customs of its inhabitants, using the “barter” (exchange of products) for their commercialization. (Only on Sundays is mass celebrated in Quechua, the native language). Lunch in the valley. In the afternoon we will pass through Calca and Urubamba on the way to the “Ollantaytambo” Agricultural-Military and Religious Center, built to guard the entrance to this part of the valley and protect it from possible invasions by the inhabitants of the jungle; it is made up of a series of superimposed terraces. On the way back to Cusco, we will visit the picturesque town of Chinchero, observing its well-preserved Inca Wall in the main square, the beautiful colonial temple with interesting frescoes in the portico, built on the foundations of an Inca building (the visit to the town of Chinchero is subject to time availability). Arrival in the city of Cusco. Accommodation at your hotel.
DAY 3: Cusco – Machu Picchu
Early in the morning, transfer to the train station for a three-hour trip to the Machu Picchu Citadel, known as “The Lost City of the Incas”. Arrival at the Aguas Calientes station, where we will board the bus that will take us for 30 minutes to the wonderful citadel. Guided tour of the Citadel, visiting the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Solar Clock, the royal quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows and the cemeteries. Free time to take a walk around the citadel. Lunch in Aguas Calientes. In the afternoon and at the indicated time, return to the city of Cusco. Arrival and transfer to your hotel. Accommodation.
DAY 4: Cusco – Departure
After breakfast, transfer and departure assistance. End of our services.
